Hello and welcome to DRJ's News Round-up.

    http://io9.com/5933841/the-latest-source-of-profanity-in-schools-daniel-h-wilsons-robopocalypse

(In the interests of irony, I should probably point out that the link contains several instances of the F-word. Razz)

JS sums up my thoughts on this best:

[16:32:17] JS: Oh god, swear words! No! Nooooooo~!
[16:32:26] JS: JS screams in Zevvy horror
    [16:32:33] JS: Desu~!

No, this site sucks. The links keep saying [Only admins are allowed to see this link]. My computer is fine.

As for the article, I have to give it to the parents for being concerned for their 14 year old child, and I also find it funny that the same public school system that thought it was offensive to have copies of Huckleberry Finn with the 'n' word are a-okay with books with profanity.

I have no problem with books like this one being taught from. But to 14 year olds? Give me a break, they aren't mature enough.

They're not mature enough to HANDLE the subject material. The F-word is just a small part of it. They can take it, but will they handle it with maturity, analyzing the complex subject matter of the book? That IS why the school chose it, right?

Besides, for some reason, the parents do not want their child exposed to that, that's their method of raising them, and we should respect it.

I don't think that's much of a refutation of my prior argument, however.
