Back in my day, there was no online gaming.
If you wanted to play against or with someone, you did it in your living room, in person.
This is where trash talk began, with best friends insulting each other, knowing they didnt mean it, n if they did, you were getting a fist to your groin, face, shin, what have you
They acted like angry tweleve year olds because they enjoyed each others company, not because they knew there was nothing the other person could do about it.
You set in house rules that everyone agreed were not to be crossed, and if you did, vengence would come a week later in the form of a pie to the face, a rigged water fountain, a stink bomb in you room.

What happend to the good ole days?
Post stories about and discuss the times of old.

Back in my day, we had dial-up internet that we used to buy from the shop down the road.

I remember dialup internet, and having fun multiplayer sessions that didn't involve anything online related. I remember when Online Gaming hadn't expanded to consoles yet.

Back before my day, there wasn't this new fangled Hero Whatzamafriggit. Heck, back then, there wasn't even a thing called a Toa yet. Back in those days, there were SLIZERS! Didn't need no comics, or movies, or anything like that. Back then, imagination was used to entertain.

I remember a friend of mine showing me his Slizer, but I was more into Bionicle. And in the early days of Bionicle, you had a lot of imagination. The storyline wasn't so developed, so you could do anything with your sets.

    Same with all Legos, really.

I remember entering the new millennium vividly.

I also miss the old days of the RPG....

More to come I guess. But moping around isn't that good.

Back in my day, people would buy a video game without knowing what the heck it was about, or how it was played. They'd just go to a store with thier parents, and if the cover looked cool, you bought it.

And y'know, sometimes you get unlucky and that game turns out to be quite bad. But it doesn't mean it isn't fun. You make it fun. Y'know, with other people.

I remember the time we had games that I later found out to be very badly reviewed, but I enjoyed those games for hours and hours. Got much more enjoyment outta them than say, some of the millitary FPS that are shoved down our throats in the present day.

Not saying the now is bad, but there was something special about sitting down with a friend/sibling and trying to play through a game that was ridiculously hard due to terrible game mechanics, or playing through a game that was so glitchy that the community actually received some of the glitches as game mechanics.

That was cool. But the bar is higher now. Companies are required to focus on so many things at once to keep up with the triple A titles.

Randomly buying games was something I enjoyed back then. Not saying I dislike the games now. I'm a fan of a lot, just look at my name (Wheatley) and how I defend COD, which somehow gets attacked all the time here. :yaoming:

Randomly buying games was how I discovered Zelda: Minish Cap and Jak & Daxter. Great ones. Seeing as don't have any consoles now though (unless a laptop counts, and occasionally my brother lets me on his 3DS), I don't do that anymore.

Ah, I remember the good old days when you bought games based on the covers. That's how I discovered Woodruff, Submarine Titans, and so many other cool titles I can no longer play because they're too old for my newfangled comp to handle.

I remember when the word "friend" actually meant something, before Facebook and its like came and diluted it.

I remember talking with my friends at length about Transformers: Armada and the Rahkshi.

And I remember when this forum was much more active than it is today. The members were a lot more enthusiastic, people were signing up much more frequently than they are now, and we often had to deal with spammers.

    Happy days!

Indeed, and indeed to forum activity. But we're rising up again, I tell you.

Anyone remember getting excited over Bionicle story leaks/set leaks? I used to get onto BZPower, even before I was a member, to find out info about next year's sets. The community was a lot more unified then. Now it's...meh.

Those are days I will always miss. I used to get so excited after seeing the ToyFair Bionicle leaks, speculate the hell out of the discussion topics, write mini-stories and all sorts. Looking back through the news articles though, it's just like "Here's some pictures of the new sets. Ho hum" by the reporter and only the respondents were excited. Makes me wonder, if they didn't like Bionicle then why the hell did they invest so much into creating a site? Beats me.

Back on topic though (this isn't WTSS Razz ) I remember the old Youtube. Who else does? XD
