BZPB: The Lesser of Two Fates

Post by Kon on Wed Sep 07, 2011 7:57 am

Uhh... yeah. This is first epic I've done in about two years. Any Comments/Criticism/Complaints to be posted below, ta. Umm... enjoy.

BZPB: THE LESSER OF TWO FATES

    Part 1

What happens when a tyrant takes control of a country? They enforce their rule with a death grip, instantly make sure that there will be no-one powerful enough to dare challenge their reign, because all tyrants are terrified of losing their power. You see, it requires constant maintenance. So, the whole country does whatever the dictator says. If you resist you are likely to face terrible punishments. Normally you have families trying to escape, ordinary people holding everlasting fear of being found guilty of committing a crime against your lord and master.
    Pretty grim, huh?
Now, expand this from a country to a planet. One man controls every land and everyone must do what he says. There is no liberty. There is no freedom. Not on the whole wide world.
Now expand the situation to fit a UNIVERSE. Now, there is no hope of escape. Because there is nowhere free to escape to. You are forever stuck in the trap, the prison, and abide by the rules forever, or face your fate. Imagine that.
What happens when this situation is applied to fit a whole mix of universes? A multiverse? Well, that’s what’s just happened here. Let’s take a look, shall we?

    ------------

Makuta Blackout, quite content, sat upon his red and black throne, his feet resting on a decorated box. His Rahkshi were spread far and wide across the multiverse, always looking for signs of trouble... or excuses for signs of trouble.
Though quite content, every day a bead of sweat ran down his armoured face. He doesn’t know why, and it’s impossible. But every day, the same time every morning, one single bead of sweat runs down his face. And it’s driving him even more mad.

    ****

Elsewhere in the far corners of the multiverse, someone was rallying their troops for war. They had managed to muster this army over countless generations, in the terrible Dark Zones at the ends of the old universes, which became part of the multiverse eons ago. It was just out of sight of Blackout’s forces, who were afraid of entering the Dark Zones, for fear that the darkness would consume them, would devour their energies and Kraata. Hundreds of thousands of beings, all clad in the signature green and black of their commander, stood in wait in those places, hidden from all else.
Suddenly, a flash of green light, and their commander floated down to join them for the first time in many years. He stood on a pillar of shadow, overlooking his vast army. Some of the warriors muttered to each other, saying that he looked like he had absorbed all of the energy of a great Green Lantern. But why would he want to do that...? Anyway, he spoke with a grated voice, as though he hadn’t used it in a while, and addressed his forces.
“My warriors! My brethren! The time has come. Blackout is wary. Let us show him that he has something to fear!!!”
A clash of weapons and a chant of readiness.
“Let us go forward now... and take this universe for ourselves. Let us show Blackout that we exist, and are not afraid! Let us show him that his time is UP, and the reign of KLAK begins!!!”
A roar of weapons and a chant of glory.
“Well... what are you waiting for?”
Without further ado, Klak thrust red energy into the space behind him, bursting a hole in the Dark Zone. And in that minute, Klak’s army went out into the multiverse, and they were free.

This sounds like it will be worth reading. So when is this?
It sounds like its set up for after FoaH:YF. But I can see it happening sometime before

Well, from when I last heard, KoN was planning to set it after FoaH, but I'm not sure if he's changed his mind.

Excellent story so far KoN. It really puts the whole civil war thing in perspective. Also, I like how F-Klak has made his own Shadow Green Lantern Corps.

Yay! I'm glad you like it guys ^^

Yes, it's set about 1000 years after FoaH:YF. The box that Blackout's legs are resting on in the Pandorica's box that Ynot is sealed in.

I think this will be a series, probably with around about 10 parts. I'm working on the second part now.

Sorry that this took so long coming, you know the situation with my laptop.

    Part 2

And so it was that the greatest battle in the history of the multiverse began. Half of the army teleported away to other parts of the multiverse, so that the battle would ensue on all fronts, not just the ones opposite the Dark Zones.

This kind of thing had happened in the past, but never on a scale this big. Normally it would be resolved by the six Great Ones. Everyone knows their names.

Blackout. Klak. Ynot. Kakamu. Zev. Shroom.

Six beings who were bound by destiny. Some of them were corrupted and consumed by evil. Some of them remain pure and whole. They are scattered amongst the multiverse now. We know where Blackout and Klak are, where Ynot rests, but what happened to the other three? You might say we’re getting off topic here, but remember these are the six most important people in creation, and thus they are central to our story. Let’s take a look.

    Kakamu’s story

Leaping and slashing his way through the bushes, the ancient warrior Kakamu dodged an arrow aimed straight at his head just as it hit a tree in front of him.
“Hmm.” Eyeing it up and down like it was someone who just insulted him, he continued on his way, sprinting very nimbly for someone of his age. His body had indeed changed with time, however; what used to be liquid biometal had hardened to a bluish metallic substance which still retained just as much flexibility as its first form. His appearance now was similar to that of his original, natural Toa body that he used millennia ago, but with shades of blue instead of red. It was visibly damaged and dented, Kakamu had had his share of battles since. What seems like feathers are erupting out of his back, and he carries with him many small artefacts in a pocket-bag.
Eventually, he stumbles into a clearing covered in huts. Some members of the enemy race that he encountered on this planet when he arrived stepped out of them and instantly pointed various weapons at him, ranging from simple bow-and-arrows to the most advanced particle rifles. Kakamu stops and glares at them, then puts his arms up. The leader, dressed in leather and feathers too, and patterned all over with bright colours, comes forward.
“Ahh... you.” He started. “You still have our information! Give it to us. It’s ours! Give it to us or we’ll kill you! I mean it!” He waves a gun at him, before being interrupted by someone else emerging from a hut to the side.
“Hey, hey, hey. Some of us are trying to get some sleep here. People these days. They just don’t know when to LEAVE A GUY BE!” The stranger, shadowed, screams at him.
The leader instantly bows. “I’m sorry. I forgot. But the metal man needs to give it to us.” He points at Kakamu.
“And he will. Let me talk to him.” The stranger comes fully into the light, and is recognised instantly, by Kakamu at least.
    “You...”
“Yes, me. What? You knew I wouldn’t be out of the picture for long, Kakamy.”
“Well... it’s good to see you, Zev.”
“Good ta see you too. Now let’s get down to business, shall we?” He says with a wink.

Once again, this seriously looks promising. I'm glad that you're checking what happened to everyone else.

By the way, if you are going to want to use any of my other characters, check with me, because they might be dead by then. Razz

    Anyways, awesome job, KoN!

    Part 3

Zev led Kakamu inside his hut and the former took a seat. The interior was beautifully decorated with all kinds of patterned fabric and framed artwork. Zev offered him a drink, but Kakamu politely refused. He then proceeded to join his guest at the table, sipping his own brew.
“Zev, I’ve been looking for you. We have to find a way to stop Kla-“
“Hold on.” He got up to close the bambooed window, then sat down again. “Sorry. Continue with pleasure.”
“Klak’s gone mad. Remember F-Klak, his future self?”
    “Yep.”
“Well he’s fulfilled that living prophecy. It’s been coming for years... first he started behaving strangely, separating himself from his friends and allies and disappearing. When he was seen again, he burnt Corrantia.”
At this, Zev raised an eyebrow.
    “I know.”
    “How?”
“I was there... I tried to stop him but he wouldn’t listen... he kept laughing and saying riddles. A terrible shame.”
“Zev, I think he’s going to try something big. I need your help to find out what.”

[Sorry it's really short, half got deleted in the crash :S]
