    Or, How To Conquer The World According To Zev

    This RPG is an...Experiment.

    So, I'm not sure if it'll survive for very long.

    Let's just give it a try...

    Premise
    The Continent of Mu is at war.

    For centuries, the five countries of the Mu Alliance have lived in peace. However, a seemingly unfounded attack by Guranth - The largest country - On their neighbouring country of Arthaea has sent the entire continent into a tumult of opposing factions. You are a warrior of one of these five countries.

    Will you fight to reunite the Mu Alliance? Will you become an opportunistic conqueror?

    Your fate is entirely in your hands.

    Setting

    Mu
    A continent of largely mild climate, Mu is surrounded by a dome of holy light that has served to protect them from demons who ransack the rest of the world. It is said that long ago, an unknown evil tried to invade Mu from beyond the veil of light protecting them. The heroes who fought to save Mu would go on to found the five countries of the Mu Alliance. Currently, all of Mu is at war with each other.

    Arthaea
    With pine forests and a cool climate, Arthaea is situated towards the northwest of the continent. Legends tell that Arthaea's first king was the leader of the heroes who saved Mu centuries ago. Arthaea was the first country that Guranth attacked for unknown reasons. Currently, their princess is being held captive and their prince is trying to rally forces to take back his country.

    Guranth
    Situated to the very north of Mu, Guranth is their largest nation; covered by mountain ranges and scrubland. According to the legends, their first king was actually the brother of Arthaea's first king. This irony only serves to exacerbate the tragic betrayal of Arthaea's trust in Guranth. Currently, Guranth is mounting an offensive on all other countries. Some sources tell that their princess is opposed to the war...

    Jhennar
    An entirely desert country, Jhennar's first queen was the lover of Arthaea's first king. As such, Jhennar has honored the Alliance and devoted their resources to assisting Arthaea's struggle against Guranth. Home of the finest steeds to be found anywhere, Jhennar is possessed of many great cavalry to ride horses, pegasi, or wyverns. Their princess has already taken flight to assist Arthaea's prince.

    Cinota
    Just south of Guranth, the peninsula of Cinota is the smallest country in Mu. Merchant hub of the continent, Cinota is surrounded by the ocean on three sides. As such, while they have ready access to fish for food and shipping lanes to the few island countries beyond the mainland to not be part of the Alliance, this also puts them in danger of pirate attacks. They have been forced to join Guranth's forces for safety.

    Rauda
    Situated to Guranth's southeast, Rauda is very mysterious for the rest of the Mu Alliance. Their first queen was a powerful mage and noted to be very unreadable to even the other heroes. Very little is known about Rauda other than that they are a theocracy and home to numerous powerful mages. Other than this, they have successfully kept out of the war thus far.

    Gameplay Mechanics

    Stats
    A character's class decides their beginning stats. By leveling up or receiving certain weapons, you can boost your stats in specific ways. Each stat caps off at twenty before Promotion, and when your stats are boosted, the GM (Moi~ ) decides the numerical amounts.

    Levels
    When you battle in this RPG, you acquire a very rough version of Experience Points. When I feel it's right, your character levels up. The highest level you can reach is twenty. By Class Promotion, you start off at level one with slightly boosted stats from just before the Promotion, and continue leveling up.

    Classes
    Every character has a class. This decides what weapons they can use and what Class Skill they have. In addition, some classes are mounted cavalry, some cavalry can fly, and some have the advantage of using magic or magic and weapons. Once you get a class, you advance in levels to boost your stats. The only way you can change a character's class once it's been set is by Promotion.

    Unique Classes
    Some Storyline-Important Characters will have Unique Classes that your player cannot access. If you complete a special, random quest, you can earn the beginnings of your own Unique Class. To design a Unique Class, you have to decide on the beginning stats, if they're mounted, what they ride if mounted, one or two weapons, and whether they can use magic. If the class has two weapons or rides a flying unit, then they cannot use magic. In addition, you'll have to create a unique Class Skill.

    Class Skills
    Part of what makes it important to choose your starting class wisely and find good recruits to complement this is the mechanic of Class Skills. Each class has a Class Skill unique to them. This complements the weapon they use and can normally be activated at anytime in battle. However, some can only be activated while attacking or being attacked, and most simply alter Stats in some way.

    Class Promotion
    If you acquire an item called a Master Seal, receive a special weapon, or are present for a certain event, then you can enter a Class Promotion. Most classes can only Promote to one Advanced Class, but some classes share Promotions with each other, and some have a maximum of two choices. However, once you choose a Promotion, there's no going back. By Promoting, your character starts off at level one with slightly boosted stats from just before the Promotion. From there, you can level up to a max of twenty like before. In addition, the stats of Advanced Classes cap off at forty instead of twenty.

    Shops
    Almost everywhere you go, there will be shops to purchase supplies at. This can range from Armories, where you buy, sell, and forge weapons, to Magic Shops, where you buy spellbooks and charms. However, there will be no shops in the vicinity of castles, forts, and citadels.

    Recruitment
    Much like shops, most locations will have at least one random chance to recruit NPC allies. Usually, you can recruit new allies from villages - However, some enemy characters will join you if you choose to talk to them instead of outright attacking. As well, some NPCs will join outside of battle as volunteers.

    *A small number of able-bodied warriors and travelling fighters remain to fight the good fight

    *Four figures are gathered in the abandoned tavern, sitting around a table*

    *A young man sits at the head of the table; with short, well-kept black hair and cobalt blue eyes, wearing a circlet of silver, azure blue cape, and a sword sheathed on his hip in addition to fairly well-to-do clothes, he has a clear aura of knowing high standing*

    ???: Sir Morel. What do you suggest we do? A number of Guranth's forces advance on us.

    *Turning his gaze to an older man, he awaits an answer*

    Morel: *Chuckle* Well, Prince Artur...I prefer to avoid combat. Yet it seems it will be impossible now.

    *He has fairly wrinkled skin, grayed hair, a thick mustache, and rather watery green eyes that hold a light of kindness and wisdom. He wears long, pale green and blue robes, a dark brown vest, and a golden-colored sash, as well as a pale blue cap on his head with four triangles folded up on the outer sides*

    Artur: Very well then... *Turns to another man* Ogma, can you get your men together quickly enough?

    Ogma: I can accomplish that, Prince. Consider them already mobilized. *Swiftly leaves the tavern*

    Artur: ... *Sighs* ...So fast... *Jumps slightly as he feels a hand on his shoulder* ...!?

    *He looks up to see the last in their group - A young woman - With her hand laid on his shoulder*

    Artur: Caeda...Sorry to get distracted. It's just...Nothing. Nothing at all.

    Caeda: *Chuckle* Artur, we've been friends since childhood. I can tell when you're blatantly lying.

    Artur: ... *Sigh* It's just...Our lands were peaceful only a short time ago. What could drive Guranth to such an atrocious betrayal? What could possibly be their motivation?

    Caeda: The only way we'll ever find out is by defeating them. *Heads outside*

    Artur: ... *Chuckles, before soon following after*

    [ Ishma, Streets: ]

    Caeda: *Saddles a pegasus and takes flight*

    Artur: *Hails a passing horseman* Cain! What is the situation?

    Cain: Guranth yet advances, sire. Norne's archers have slowed them, but we won't be able to avoid close combat.

    *Sitting tall atop the saddle, Cain possesses messy brown hair with a prominent tuft sticking forward, deep blue eyes, and slightly tanned skin. His armor is of a dark red with silver filigree, and he wields a lance tipped by a large silver head with two picks off to the side*

    Artur: ...Alright. Rally some of the warriors to still remain. We'll need all the help we can get.

    Cain: Right. *Goes riding off, shouting for warriors in the town to join in*

    Artur: ...I'll return to you alive, sister. *Runs for the gates*

    OOS: You can choose to be a warrior of any class staying in Ishmar, or you can be a warrior hired by Guranth.

    Then again, you could be somewhere else entirely.

    *A very peculiar looking man marches with Guranth forces, he looks very out of place among the others, with his abnormally long hair and lack of shirt, his upper body, excluding neck and arms, is covered in blue vine tattoos. His baggy, light pants ruffle as he marches, held up by a blue belt. He constantly has one hand behind his back, and the most peculiar thing about him apart from everything else is the fact that his eyes are covered by a piece of blue material, completely cutting his vision*

    *It can be seen that in his hand is a cyan spell book, decorated with eerie black swirls*

    *His free hand goes to scratch his nose and he grins, revealing his teeth, all blunt, apart from one particularly sharp and long canine*

    Commander Luther: *Looks over his forces* ...Hmph. *Has short brown hair in a bit of a reagent and a short, thick beard. As well, he wears a massive set of dark green plate armor*

He wears a lightweight gray torso armor and a steel plate on the left shoulder over a navy blue tunic, as well as lightweight leather gauntlets; a quiver on his back; gray trousers; and kneeheight leather boots*

    *As for the young woman: A short, petite young lady, her long brown hair is tied back in a braided ponytail and her hazel eyes reveal none of her emotions. She wears a leather vest over a longsleeved white shirt, beige breeches, kneeheight leather boots, and a sabre on her hip*

    *Soft and lilting, her voice is surprisingly pleasant*

    *Briefly, she turns to look at the obviously-cautious Roger*

    Marisa: Calm yourself. I make it a policy not to kill allies. It's bad for business.

    Roger: ... *Blink* I can't tell if you're joking about that.

    Marisa: I'm not joking. I used to not care about my comrades via being hired. When they kept dying, I got fewer and fewer offers to return. Whether or not I care for my brothers in arms, having their backs is more profitable than letting them get themselves killed.

    Roger: I see. *Nod* That policy makes sense. *Mutter* In a deranged sort of way...

    Marisa: *Goes back to Click, ignoring Roger* May I ask where you got that spellbook?

    *Her blank eyes nonetheless seem intrigued*

    Marisa: *Immediately dashed ahead at lightning speed*

    Roger: Well, let's get going. Cast your spells from behind me.

    *Helm donned, he lifts his spear and prepares to make a path for Click to follow*

    *Meanwhile, the timid-looking archer and the petite sword wielder move ahead, as well*

    Female Sword Wielder: *Moves up to click* My name is Dua. I'll help protect you.

    [ Temporary Ally ]
    [ Dua, Class: Myrmidon, Level Two ]
    [ 2x Iron Swords, Steel Sword ]

    Archer: *Gulp* ...Mum...I'll be home to ya soon...I gotta do this...

    *He notches an arrow and takes aim*

    *More Guranth forces - Mainly knights and cavaliers, no archers or other mages besides Click himself - Enter the fray, about fifteen strong*

    *High above, a winged figure circles downward*

    Caeda: Hail, Castor! What are you doing with Guranth!? Are you daft, man!?

    Castor: *Flinch* Ah...Ah'm sorry, Princess. Me mum...She's been sick fer years...I can't pay ta help her by masself...

    Caeda: You fool...You could have always come to me! How long have we been friends? Tell me!

    Castor: ... *Sniffle* Ooh...You're right...How... *Sob* How could I face mum if I was in with this lot...?

    Caeda: No time for that! *Drags him onto the saddle behind her*

    *She takes flight just in time to avoid a clash between a pair of thrown javelins*

    Roger: ... *Sigh* Almost touching, if we hadn't just lost our only archer.

    Dua: Aye. Yet I'm not one for such softhearted drama.

    *Archaean forces have begun to charge*

    *Click calmly follows roger's lead, and conjures around 2 medium-sized pebbles in a sphere formation above him, raising his hand*

    Click: This should slow them down a bit.

    *He makes a pushing action with his hand, and all of the pebbles are propelled with great force by a sudden burst of wind towards the enemy*

    *His accuracy is as good, if not better than one who can see*

    Click: *Begins creating a minute tornado in the palm of his free hand* Better safe than sorry.

    *However, one Cavalier is successfully knocked off of his steed*

    *Soon, the Guranth and Archaean forces meet far off from the walled-in town*

    *Clangs and crashes go up in a monstrous, terrible din*

    Roger: *Blocks the spear of a Cavalier with his shield* Hmph!!

    *He plunges his spear into the rider's thigh*

    *The Cavalier topples, dead, from his mount*

    Dua: *Slashes open another Cavalier's thigh with great speed*

    *None of them can compare to Marisa, however*

    *Her speed almost makes it seem like she's engaged in a dance*

    *Only a steely glint and frequent splashes of crimson show her blade's path*

    *Already, she's dropped four Cavaliers dead to the ground*

    Roger: That woman is terrifying. *Shudder*

    *He prepares to block another Cavalier's sword*

    Dua: *Stays close to protect Click*

    *Click releases his tornado at a Cavalier

    Click: *Proceeds to blast one into the sky*

    *He spins around with a gust of wind and begins continuously hitting one of the Cavaliers, his blows not being very strong but extremely fast, helped along with small bursts of wind*

    *He then blows a gust into the ground to get sand in some of the Caliver's eyes*

    Click: *Continues to punch and kick the Caliver*

    *Suddenly, the horse panics and begins to kick wildly - Almost trampling Click under its hooves*

    Roger: *Stabs the Cavalier in the chest* Hyah!! *Slaps the horse's rear*

    *On reflex, the horse dashes off the battlefield - Its dead rider limp in the saddle*

    Roger: Be careful of those horses. *Steels himself*

    *Another Cavalier charges in*

    *A stray slash from one of the Cavaliers manages to nick Click's shoulder*

    Roger: *Stabs into the Cavalier, killing him* Use a stronger spell! I've never seen a Mage fight in such a roundabout way!

    *With a slash and a spurt of blood, another Cavalier is downed*

    Marisa: *Has returned* ...You're not using the full potential of your spells. Any other mage would have easily dispatched those Cavaliers.

    *Turning, she points towards an approaching Knight*

    Marisa: ...Try using a blade of wind. Something to be directly offensive.

    Roger: Please do. More offensive magic would be very helpful about now.

    *He moves to defend Click once again*

    ~ ~ ~

    OOS: I don't know if it's purposeful, Shroom...But...

    ...You don't seem to understand how magic works in this game. Any Mage, even at Level One, can use directly offensive magic from Holy, Dark, or the Elements.

    No offense...But you're only hampering yourself.
